Carlisle is the adoptive father-in-law of Bella Cullen and the adoptive grandfather of Renesmee Cullen. Carlisle has an unparalleled gift of compassion; this allowed him to perfect his lifestyle as a "vegetarian" among vampires, to the point that he is able to completely resist the temptation of human blood. Carlisle is a Doctor. He recently began teaching night courses at Dartmouth College.

Edward Cullen (born Edward Anthony Masen to Edward Masen Sr. and Elizabeth Masen on June 20, 1901) is a vampire and a member of the Olympic Coven. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is the husband of Bella Cullen and the father of Renesmee Cullen. Edward is the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, as well as the son-in-law of Charlie Swan and Renée Dwyer. He is the adoptive brother of Emmett and Alice Cullen, as well as the adoptive brother of Jasper and Rosalie Hale. After contracting Spanish influenza in September of 1918, Edward was the first person turned into a vampire by Carlisle Cullen, as the only alternative to death. Over the next ninety years the pair gathered a family of vampires around themselves, and devoted their lives to "vegetarianism". Edward eventually fell in love with Isabella Swan and with her fathered a half-vampire and half-human daughter, Renesmee Cullen, before turning his beloved into a vampire so that they could be together for all eternity.

In 1921, after losing her child, Esme attempted suicide, though she was transformed into a vampire by Carlisle Cullen. Some time later, the pair fell in love and married; before building a family of like minded "vegetarian" vampires around them. Esme possessed an unparalleled ability to love those around her passionately, which allowed the members of her adoptive family to consider her as the greatest maternal figure in their lives.

Rosalie Lillian Hale is a vampire and a member of the Olympic Coven. She is the wife of Emmett Cullen and the adoptive daughter of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, as well as the adoptive sister of Jasper Hale (in Forks, she and Jasper pretend to be twins) and Alice and Edward Cullen, as well as the adoptive sister-in-law to Bella Cullen and adoptive aunt of Renesmee Cullen. In 1933, Rosalie was turned into a vampire by Carlisle Cullen after being beaten to the brink of death by a group of men including Royce King, her fiance. Two years later, Rosalie rescued a young man named Emmett from being mauled by a bear, and after he was turned into a vampire, the two fell very deeply in love. Along with Emmett, Rosalie was an integral member of the Cullen family and fought eagerly against those who threatened them.

Emmett Cullen, born Emmett Dale McCarty in 1915, is a vampire and member of the Olympic Coven. He is the husband of Rosalie Hale and the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen. Emmett is the adoptive brother of Edward and Alice Cullen, as well as Jasper Hale, and the uncle of Renesmee Cullen. After being mauled by a bear in 1935, Emmett was rescued by Rosalie Hale, and given a second chance at life after being transformed into a vampire by Carlisle Cullen at her request. Rosalie and Emmett were rarely parted after this, being that they were true soul mates. The pair were integral members of the Cullen family and participated eagerly in removing the numerous impediments it faced. Emmett also changes his eye color like most vampires.Emmett is the strongest in the Olympic coven.Emmett has massive muscles which cannot grow since he is a vampire. Emmett is married to Rosalie they have a strong connection together.

Alice Cullen, born in 1901 as Mary Alice Brandon, is a vampire with the ability of clairvoyance who is a member of the Olympic Coven. She is the wife of Jasper Hale and the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme Cullen. Alice is the adoptive sister of Bella, Edward and Emmett Cullen, as well as to Rosalie Hale and the aunt of Renesmee Cullen.In 1920, after having been institutionalized by her family, Alice was transformed into a vampire to save her from the relentless tracker James. Later, she was led to the love of her life Jasper after receiving a vision of him, and the pair subsequently began a life with the peaceful coven of the Cullen family.

Jasper Hale, born Jasper Whitlock in 1843, is a vampire who participated in the great vampire wars of the south, but later became a member of the Olympic Coven. He is the husband of Alice Cullen and the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, as well as the adoptive brother of Rosalie Hale (in Forks, he and Rosalie pretend to be twins), Emmett and Edward Cullen, as well as the adoptive brother-in-law to Bella Cullen and the adoptive uncle of Renesmee Cullen. After becoming a major in the Confederate Army, Jasper was beset upon by the vampire Maria, who proceeded to turn him. After the transformation, Jasper aided Maria in her creation of a newborn vampire army which successfully conquered the feeding grounds of Texas. However, Jasper became disillusioned with this violent life and eventually became a nomad. Fortunately, he was eventually found by Alice, the love of his life and with her began a life with the peaceful coven of the Cullen family.

Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan (later Isabella "Bella" Marie Cullen), born to Charlie Swan and Renée Dwyer on September 13, 1987) is the protagonist of the Twilight series. In the first book, Twilight, she is a 17-year-old girl who falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. In the last novel of the series, Breaking Dawn, she marries Edward and becomes vampire and a member of the Olympic Coven. She is transformed into a vampire by Edward after nearly dying giving birth to their daughter, Renesmee Cullen. Bella is the daughter-in-law of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, and the sister-in-law of Alice Cullen, Emmett Cullen, Rosalie Hale, and Jasper Hale. As a vampire, Bella has the ability to project a mental shield that can protect herself, and others, from the mental powers possessed by other vampires.

Renesmee (ren-ez-may) Carlie Cullen (born on September 10, 2006) is a half vampire/half human, and a member of the Olympic Coven. She is the imprinted of Jacob Black and the daughter of Edward and Bella Cullen. Renesmee's Paternal grandparents are Edward and Elizabeth Masen Sr.. She is the granddaughter of Charlie Swan and Renee Dwyer as well as the adoptive granddaughter of Carlisle and Esme Cullen. She is the niece of Alice and Emmett Cullen, as well as the adoptive niece of Rosalie and Jasper Hale. Renesmee is considered to be Edward and Bella's "miracle", because of what it took to keep her and her mother alive through the pregnancy. Renesmee also has the special power to show people what she is thinking. In the beginning, Bella despises Jacob for giving her daughter a nickname after the Lockness monster.

Kate was known to have a strong mind and had the talent of raising an electric current on her skin. She gained a mate, the nomad Garrett who had ruby eyes and long sandy hair that he kept tied back.

She is black-haired with a hint of an olive tone to her chalky complexion. It is assumed she has the same gold/black eyes of all vegetarian vampires. She is one of the Denali “sisters” who joined the coven a few centuries after the original three. She is a “vegetarian” and leads a very peaceful lifestyle. She is in love with Eleazar and both she and Eleazar are originally from Spain.

Eleazar has the ability to Identify Vampire Abilities.
Eleazar is originally from Spain and as such speaks fluent Spanish. He was a Volturi Guard because he had a powerful gift that allowed him to identify vampires that had gifts that Aro thought would be useful. This vampire would be offered a reprieve, as Aro would tell the other Volturi that his or her thoughts were particularly 'repentant'. He could also identify nebulous talent in humans, though he had to concentrate harder. He met Carmen there and after awhile they left, because they did not like the way the Volturi conducted themselves. They wandered for a time and eventually made it to Denali. Edward Cullen felt that if Carmen and Eleazar hadn't found Kate, Irina, and Tanya, they probably would have eventually found the "vegetarian" lifestyle on their own. He is described as a tall, dark-haired man with "a hint of an olive tone in his chalky complexion".

Garrett was an adventurer and one of the nomadic vampires of America. He was called to become a witness for the Cullen family when they were faced with the Volturi. It is implied that he was created around the time of the American Revolutionary War; he alluded to fighting as an American Patriot. Garrett did not have any additional talents, although he enjoyed challenges. He was intrigued by the Cullens and the Denali coven's lifestyle of drinking animal blood instead of human blood. He later told Aro that he believed abstaining from human blood can be a powerful aid to the ability of bonding between vampires. While being a witness, he learned about this lifestyle through Kate, from the Denali coven. Eventually, when the the Volturi fled, he left with the Denali coven and became Kate's mate. Garrett is described as a tall, rangy vampire with eager ruby eyes and long sandy hair tied back in a ponytail, with a leather thong. After becoming a vegetarian vampire his eyes are no longer ruby.

He has jet black hair, and has crimson eyes.
Aro has the ability of tactile telepathy.
Aro (born in 1000 B.C) is one of three vampires who lead the Volturi. He is widely accepted as the overall leader of the Volturi, and possesses the gift of tactile telepathy, the supernatural talent to ascertain the thoughts of a person with a single touch. Aro is described as having almost translucent skin, and it is repeatedly compared to onion skin throughout the series. His hair is very long and jet black. When he moves, it appears as though he's floating. His eyes are a milky red color that has a tendency to unsettle people. This red is also due to his diet on human's blood. Aro is very power-hungry. He craves domination, and is constantly looking to expand what power he has. He is also willing to destroy anything he loves for power, as he demonstrates when he murders his sister to keep Marcus from leaving the Volturi. Aro is a collector. He collects many valuables, like jewels and similar items of wealth. But his most prized "possessions" are his talented guards, especially his own personal guard, Renata. Aro is often described as being 'giddy', due to his almost unnatural air of ease and delight in tense or otherwise objectionable situations. As the apparent leader of the Volturi, Aro is exceptionally talented. Being vampiric, Aro is blessed with superhuman strength and speed, and has vastly enhanced senses. Aro also possesses the supernatural ability to read minds; his ability is far more powerful than even Edward Cullen's, as he is capable of hearing every thought a person has ever had. However, he requires physical contact to use this ability, and cannot read minds from a distance.

appears to be unknown years old but is really about centuries old.
He has white hair, and has crimson eyes.
Caius was born about 1000 BC, and at some point became a vampire. He later joined the Volturi, along with Aro and Marcus. It is unknown if Caius ever met or knew Didyme, Marcus's wife and Aro's genetic sister, or if he knows that Aro killed her himself. Later two female vampires joined the Volturi: Sulpicia and Athenodora, who both were cousins. Athenodora later became Caius's wife. Some 2000 years before Breaking Dawn, he was nearly killed by a werewolf in a fight, and never got over it, so he hunted werewolves to near extinction. He also participated in the extermination of the Immortal Children, which he deemed to be dangerous. Caius has recently decided to leave the Volturi taking several members of the guard with him.

He has jet black hair, and has crimson eyes.
Marcus has the ability of recognize relationships and bonds between individuals.
As a result of losing his mate - Didyme - Marcus eventually became extremely apathetic. He voted against destroying Renesmee in an 'almost bored fashion', not even looking at the Cullens and their allies while doing so. The others of the Volturi seem to recognize this aspect of himself, as none of the Volturi reacted at all to his vote.

She has fair hair, and has misty crimson eyes.
Sulpicia is Aro's wife. She's a member of the royal family, and lives in Volterra, Italy. Her talents are minimal, and she spends most of her time with her older cousin (and Caius's wife) Athenodora. Although she knows in her heart her husband loves her, she also knows that if it came down to her or his kingdom, she would surely be the first to go. She is described as thin and confident.

Athenodora is the wife of Caius and is a member of the Volturi. She lives in Volterra, Italy and rarely leaves; even during important times of vampire history. Athenodora is described as a drifting waifish figure and has no special powers. She is fair-haired, and has powdery skin and filmed eyes.

Alec has the ability to desensitize people.
Alec is a member of the Volturi and is one of the highest ranked guards. He has a sister named Jane. Alec has an extremely powerful gift which is equally powerful as his twin Jane’s. He has the ability to cut off a person's senses. He can make them blind, deaf, and numb to any feeling if he wishes to. When he uses his gift, it appears in the form of a clear hazy mist. Unlike Jane's power, Alec can cut off a multiple number of people's senses while Jane can only inflict her power on only one person in her focus.

She has unknown hair, and has crimson eyes.
Chelsea has the ability to strengthen or weaken relationships.
Chelsea is a member of the Volturi's guard and has the gift of undoing or strengthening the ties of relationships. She has a mate by the name of Afton. Chelsea is tall, and looks similar to Heidi. She has red/black eyes. Chelsea can read the ties of people, like Marcus. but she can also influence those ties. She can make people turn away from others, and also strengthen the bond of one person to another. Aro used this power to keep Marcus loyal to the Volturi after his love, Didyme,'s death. Her main purpose in the guard is to separate the guilty from the innocent by breaking their relational ties. When a vampire turns up that Aro is interested in, she strengthens the ties of that vampire to the Volturi, to influence them to serve willingly. However, as stated by Edward Cullen, she cannot as easily influence the emotional ties of people when those ties are stronger that just friends or acquaintances . She could not have changed the way Edward felt about Bella, for example.

Corin has the ability to unknown.
Corin is a member of the Volturi guard and is gifted, although her gifts are not known.

He has dark hair, and has crimson eyes.
Demetri has the ability of tracking sense.
Demetri is an immense threat towards the Cullens' survival in Breaking Dawn, as he could trace any of them if they managed to escape during the confrontation with the Volturi over Renesmee Cullen. Demetri has an olive complexion with a chalky pallor, and dark hair that reaches his shoulders. He is described as tall and lean. He is perceived to be very polite. His special ability is tracking. He catches the "tenor" of a person's thoughts, and is drawn to it. It is believed that he would not be able to track Bella, since she is protected from mind-based abilities.


&& it's Felix as portrayed by Daniel Cudmore
appears to be unknown years old but is really about unknown.
He has black hair, and has crimson eyes.
Felix is one of the guards of the Volturi. His motivation is not at all described in the books. The only cues to discern his character are what he is described to do physically, and how he speaks to Bella and Edward.

She has mahogany hair, and has crimson eyes.
Heidi has the ability to create of illusionary desires .
Heidi played a short appearance in New Moon where she brought in old humans for the Volturi t o eat. Aro really liked Heidi since he was impressed by her talents. Heidi travels in Forks with the Volturi guard to exterminate the Cullens for creating an immortal child. After learning that Renesmee is in fact a half-breed and not a threat, she and the rest of the Volturi leave. Heidi is described as gorgeous and statuesque with long, lustrous mahogany hair and long legs. It is stated that, like Rosalie Hale, her beauty is exceptional and unforgettable. Her eyes are violet, due to her using blue contacts over red irises. Her voice is described as silky. Heidi, like all vampires, possessed inhumane strength, speed and beauty. However, she possessed an extra power; she could create illusions of someone's desires.

appears to be unknown years old but is really about unknown.
She has pale brown hair, and has crimson eyes.
Jane has the ability to create the illusion of pain.
Jane is a sadistic guard of the Volturi and a pet of Aro's. She seems rather bitter and easily justifies inflicting pain on anyone with her power. Jane has a twin brother named Alec and they both reside in Volterra, Italy. The Volturi had their eyes on Jane and Alec as potential people to change back when they were still human, but were waiting until they were older to change them. When frightened humans tried to burn the twins at the stake, because of witchcraft. Because of all she went through this is why she has this power. Aro was forced to change them while they were still young and kill every human who tried to burn the twins. Jane has since become one of the prize members of the Volturi Guard and is one of their highest ranking guards.

She has unknown hair, and has crimson eyes.
Renata has the ability to divert physical attacks, a shield..
Bella describes her to have a timid personality and notices that Renata has no blood lust or any desire to fight. She comments that if there was a fight with Renata and herself one on one, she would obliterate her. Renata also has the power to divert physical attacks, so if someone were to walk forward they would immediately want to go the other way and have no memory of why they wanted to the first way at all. She is Aro's shield at times of battle, as well as his personal bodyguard. She is incredibly protective of her master, and is very disturbed whenever he willingly makes himself vulnerable (as shown during the confrontation in Breaking Dawn). Renata can repel people. It is a physical shield, If anyone comes too close, they will find themselves walking away, and they don't know why. She is specifically Aro's bodyguard, but also protects the rest of the Volturi if she can.

Santiago is a member of the Volturi Guard, although he has no gift. Little is known about him.

Zafrina was a South American vampire who was a part of, and possibly the leader of, the Amazon Coven. She was a particularly talented vampire with the supernatural ability to create illusions. Zafrina was a friend of the Cullen family whom she pledged to serve as a witness of before the Volturi. Along with Senna and Kachiri, Zafrina is a member of the Amazon Coven of vampires. Unlike their friends, the Cullens, the Amazon's did not adhere to a strictly "vegetarian" diet

appears to be sixteen years old but is really about twenty.
He has black hair, brown eyes, and is six foot seven inches tall.
Jacob Black was born to Billy and Sarah Black. Sarah died in a car crash when he was very young. Jacob remembers Bella from when they were younger, though she does not remember him. He is described as a Native American of the Quileute tribe. In Twilight he is fifteen, and in New Moon and Eclipse he is sixteen. When he reaches the age of sixteen, he undergoes the transformation that enables him to phase into a werewolf. He imprints on a baby named Renesmee Cullen, the daughter of Edward and Bella Cullen. Like his pack brother, Quil Ateara, his love for Renesmee will not be sexual or romantic until she comes of age. Jacob's personality shifts throughout the books as he matures. In Twilight, he seems shy and sheepish around Bella, easily succumbing to her flirtations and worrying about how the Quileute legends will affect her perception of him. However, in New Moon Jacob becomes sullen and temperamental. This is because he is experiencing the change of shape-shifting. In Eclipse, he becomes a lot more confident that Bella is really for him - so much so that he makes her realize that she does love him after all. In Breaking Dawn, his personality changes yet again, because he feels like Bella is going to die. He is ready to kill her baby daughter, Renesmee, until he sees her and experiences imprinting.

appears to be twenty years old but is really about twenty-four.
She has black hair, brown eyes, and is five foot five inches tall.
Leah is Jacob's Beta in the pack.
Leah is the daughter of Harry Clearwater, who died of a heart attack due to poor health conditions, (It was mentioned by Sue that his eating habits were bad and was playing a part to his ailing health), and Sue Clearwater, older sister of Seth Clearwater, ex-girlfriend of Sam Uley and sole female member of the La Push pack. She transformed into a shape-shifter during the events of New Moon, around the same time as her brother, Seth. She also has deep unsettling issues (plus a broken heart) and is almost overprotective of her little brother. Leah is the only female shape-shifter known to have ever existed. Leah is described as beautiful in an exotic way. She has perfect copper skin, glistening black hair, and eyelashes "like feather dusters". When in wolf form, Edward describes her as a "smaller grey wolf". Leah is portrayed as angry and bitter as a result of her broken heart. She has a quick temper and often uses the pack's mental connection to remind the other shape-shifters of things they would rather forget — ostensibly to vent her pain at being connected to Sam and possibly even to punish him. However, she also demonstrates considerable loyalty to her pack and protectiveness of her brother, and by the end of Breaking Dawn, Leah has matured remarkably. She mentions to Jacob that she is considering community college and possibly meditation and yoga to help her temper issues. She also implies that she intends to quit being a werewolf as soon as she is able to control herself. For some reason as a female wolf, her body is frozen and doesn't change as female humans normally do. This had led Leah to believe that she, like female vampires, can't have children.

He has black hair, brown eyes, and is five foot ten inches tall.
Seth Clearwater is a member of Jacob Black's renegade shape-shifter pack and is introduced in New Moon as Leah's younger brother and a young member of the La Push werewolf (shape-shifter) pack. As a human, Bella describes Seth as having a "tall and gangly build" and a "huge, happy grin". She notes that he reminds her of a younger Jacob. As a wolf, Seth is also tall and gangly, and has sandy colored fur, and is known for being very happy.

appears to be sixteen years old but is really about twenty.
He has black hair, brown eyes, and is six foot three inches tall.
Embry is a teenage shape-shifter from La Push and is one of Jacob's "wingmen". He appears briefly in New Moon and Eclipse. Embry calls Bella Swan "vampire girl' because she hangs out with the Cullen's coven. His mother was not a woman from the tribe, but because the shapeshifting traits are inherited only within the tribe, he is probably the half brother of Quil Ateara, Jacob Black, or Sam Uley, which causes some stress within the pack due to the fact that all of their fathers were married before, during, and after Embry's birth. The pack's hopes are that he is half brothers with Sam, as Sam's father already has a bad record, and if his father was Quil Snr. or Billy, it would cause new dispute between the people at La Push. Some time during his early life, Embry became friends with Quil Ateara and Jacob Black. Sometime later, Embry went through the change and became a wolf like the other boys in the La Push "gang." He was the fourth to transform, right before Jacob’s, and since he couldn’t tell Jacob what was happening to him, he started avoiding Jacob. Once Jacob changed, they went back to being friends. Embry's mom does not know he changed and he will not tell her. He has said the secret is too important. He won't tell her even though she yells at him for sneaking out at night. Embry remains one of Jacob’s best friends though the rest of the book, in spite of the way he breaks the rules and hangs out with Bella more than he should. As a human, Embry is described as being tall and slender, having red brown skin, long rounded muscles, cropped black hair, and brown eyes. As a wolf, he is described as having gray fur with black spots, thinner than Quil, and being swift. Embry is quieter and more shy than some of the other boys on the Reservation. He is playful, but still come across as being more reserved. He has not imprinted. There is little known about his family background besides that of his mother. It is unknown, yet unlikely, if he has any other siblings. His shy and quiet personality could have something to do with his mother's constant presence or absence. Since little is known, as stated before, it is unknown why he is the way he is.

appears to be sixteen years old but is really about twenty.
He has black hair, brown eyes, and is five foot eleven inches tall.
A member of the wolf pack, Quil Ateara is mentioned in passing in the first of the series, but becomes somewhat of a regular character starting in the second book. Unlike the other members of the pack, he was happy about becoming a wolf, due to finally having his friends back and understanding what was going on. In New Moon, Quil is worried about the effect that being a wolf has had on Jacob. It is revealed during Breaking Dawn that he enjoys being part of the pack the most. Quil was one of the first three wolves of the pack to imprint, the others being Sam and Jared; Quil imprinted on Emily's two-year-old niece, Claire. Although this seems scandalous, Jacob Black explains that there is currently nothing sexual or romantic about their relationship, and that Quil will be whatever Claire needs him to be for the rest of her life, whether a brother, a protector or a lover. He ends up joining Jacob's pack at the end of Breaking Dawn. Quil is described as having dark skin, black hair, an impish grin, a buzz cut and being tall and burly. As a wolf, he has chocolate brown fur.
